Collections Connections: Integrating MSU Museum Resources into Your Teaching

The MSU Museum, the Science and Culture Museum at Michigan State University, houses cultural and natural science collections that are used for research, education, and outreach. This workshop will feature the museum as a rich learning space that facilitates active and inquiry-based instructional approaches across a variety of disciplines. For example, the museum resources can be used for object-based learning, a pedagogy in which an object serves as a focal point for learning by stimulating students’ curiosity, encouraging exploration, and promoting critical thinking. Learning through museum collections and exhibits can be used to address instructional goals in diverse disciplines.
