LyX and Beamer: Open Source Tools for High Quality Documents and Presentations

We will discuss and demonstrate the use of LyX as a user-friendly interface to the LaTeX document preparation system, and specifically the Beamer package for LaTeX. LaTeX creates publication-quality documents, and is particularly useful when mathematics or other symbology is used extensively. Beamer turns out high-quality presentations based. LyX insulates the user from most of the complexities of LaTeX. All these tools are open-source and cross-platform. (Presented by Dr. Paul Rubin)
